In many surveillance installations, a monitor is one of the most important components. The monitor allows for real-time viewing of the scene that is being surveyed by the camera and captured by the recorder.

When multiple cameras are part of an installation, then multiple images from those cameras at various locations may be viewed on a single monitor simultaneously.
